John began coaching tennis in 1987. He is a MTM certified coach and has coach students in Jakarta, New Zealand, Singapore and currently Bintan Indonesia.
John holds a postgraduate diploma in Social Science (Massey, NZ). He started playing tennis in at age 15 encouraged by his mother, a club champion. After playing in high school, he spent a summer at a Southern California tennis academy with minimum improvement. He described this as the "worst tennis investment ever". When he started as a tennis instructor in Jakarta, he taught the conventional "hard way of conservative (unnatural) tennis" which frustrated himself and his students.
After winning the 2011 "Prince" Winter Satellite Tournaments in New Zealand, John was very fortunate to discover the Modern Tennis Methodology by Oscar Wagner and he has since developed a fresh approach towards tennis. "Oscar's teaching made so much sense and when practiced, improvement is miraculously quick and easy saving a lot of precious time and energy for both student and teacher". John has since passionate in spreading this knowledge to his students.
John is the title holder of the +45 Prince Pesta Sukan Open / Veteran Tennis Championships 2015 of Singapore - Get Active! Singapore 2017 +45 Champion.
